1/4/2007 8:57 AM Ahlsell acquires Idestrands

Ahlsell AB has signed an agreement with group parent company Idestrands Fastighets AB, to acquire AB T. Idestrands and its subsidiaries, which sell tools and machinery as well as building products to professional users. AB T. Idestrands has an annual turnover of about SEK 350 million and 90 employees. The acquisition will strengthen Ahlsell's leading position in the tools and machinery segment.

Idestrands sells tools and machinery as well as building products to companies within the industrial and building sectors in the Stockholm, Malmö and Gothenburg regions. The company was founded in 1944: it has five branches and its headquarters are located in Stockholm.

"The acquisition strengthens Ahlsell's leading position within the tools and machinery sector and increases our presence in three key regions. It also extends the company's range to building products, thus creating an exciting growth segment. Together with Ahlsell's broad product offer, Idestrands' strong position within the industrial and building sectors will create new business opportunities", says Göran Näsholm, President and CEO of Ahlsell.

The acquisition will have a positive impact on the group's result from 2007. The transaction is subject to approval by the Swedish Competition Authority and the new company will be consolidated in the group as soon as we receive a positive response from the Authority.
